What am I protesting?

Despite its improvements, women are still unequal to men in society and feminist are still fighting for equality to this day. Much like artists such as Lesley gore and Nina Simone in the 60s, Cynthia Rose is joining the feminist fight to create an equal an just society.

The concept of the music video is to illustrate how women can be treated as unequal in modern society. The use of the song 'feeling good' is used ironically as the artist is repeatedly ignored and set back in society due to her gender, meanwhile a male is shown progressing in the exact same roles as her. We watch Cynthia as she sings on stage to an audience who seem to all be distracted by their phones, presenting the news in which the family watching switches off the television, and being rejected from a job while the man next to her is successful. We see her completely beaten down, switching from the inspired artist doing her hair and makeup and picking out an outfit for her show, to running offstage as the crowd fails to pay attention to her. A male understudy takes her place, finishing the last lines of the song, causing the audience to erupt in applause as they take a standing ovation for him.

Unequality is still a huge issue in our modern society, however some roles have improved massively. For example, In sport Brazil has recently made female football players pay equal to mens. Despite this, much more change is needed in defeating stereotypes such as 'the stay at home mother' and end the sexualization of women so that they can have as much opportunity in life as males do. The article below links to an advert Nike posted, which illustrated a female football player 'having to work twice as hard just to be noticed'.
