Production Diary

DAY ONE

Today was the first day of filming. I filmed for the last scene of my music video with Matilda, who played Nina Simone. I printed out lyrics for her on A3 paper and stuck it to a board so she could see the lyrics. For costume I had her wear all black and wear her hair up like Nina Simone, as long as wearing Cinthia Rose' signature red lipstick. I used a single soft light to create a spot light effect. We experimented by using multiple different shots and angles, as well as filming multiple takes of each shot. this has given me lots of footage to work with.

DAY TWO

Today I filmed with Oliwia, who played the suffragette Emily Davidson. We dressed her up in period wear and red lipstick again. I used a greenscreen which I plan to edit afterwards into an image of suffragettes protesting. For props i printed of a sign which says 'votes for women'. I used to soft lights to create a natural, even light effect and used various angles which has given me lots of footage to work with.

DAY THREE

Today I filmed with myself as the actress, playing Cinthia Rose at a #MeToo protest. The concept is that I will use a green screen to create various different images of Cinthia as she dresses up as different people. To create this effect she wears various different costumes, changes her hair and makeup. For props I printed off various signs to make the protest look more realistic. I used one soft light to create natural lighting, and used mid shots to show the majority of the characters body.

DAY FOUR

Today I focused on my artists photoshoot, taking photos for my website. Although I was at home with limited resources I used a camera and tripod combined with LED lights to create a photoshoot setting. In post production I edited the pictures to remove the colour from my face but add vibrance to the red lipstick, making it stand out. I also added more details to the pictures which I think makes them a better quality.

DAY FIVE

Today I filmed at the gliding field with Jess. We filmed with natural lighting to get a good quality video, and despite the weather meaning we couldn't fly the plane, we got lots of footage of Jess playing Amelia Earhart inside the plane. For costume we dressed her in black smart trousers as well as a flying hat and leather jacket which I believed to be time period appropriate. One issue with the costume is that I forgot to bring red lipstick for jess to wear, however I will find a way to edit this onto her face.
