Planning-Music Video Mis-en-scene

Props- Time appropriate props, eg. protest signs- #Metoo, Votes for women

Costume- Styles from each era, simplistic and non-eccentric as to not distract from the actors

Location- Green screen, class room and plane, all edited to seem time appropriate, eg. modern classroom vs 60s vintage theatre

Lighting- Bright and empowering lighting, contrast actresses with background during close up and illuminate faces to exaggerate their expressions

Colour- Use of bright colours to show modern scenes such as the classroom and black and white to show us going back in time

For example in this shot bright lighting is used to create a sense of empowerment, alongside the use of costume and black and white to communicate the time era.

Examples of music videos with good use of mis-en-scene is Tom Odell's 'Another Love' and 'Its oh so quiet' by Jbork. The use of costume and props is significant to the significance of the video and the use of colour lighting illustrates changing moods.
